Rules Options

Use the Rules page to customize various mail handling options, including:
     Filtering Messages
     Creating a Vacation Message
     Forwarding a Message
     Moving a Message
     Formatting Message Replies
     Confirming Sent Messages

To access the Rules page:

The Rules page appears.

Filtering Messages

You can filter incoming messages to reject junk mail.

To filter messages:
1. On the Rules page, go to the Junk Mail option and select the reject incoming junk mail checkbox.
2. Click OK.
Mail filtering is enabled.

Creating a Vacation Message

You can automatically send a reply to e-mail messages you receive while you are away.

To create a vacation message:
1. On the Rules page, go to the Message text option and enter the vacation message text you want to send.
2. In the Usage Rules section, select the response method you want:
  • Disabled--Disables the vacation message option.
  • Reply Every Time--Replies to the sender each time a message is received.
  • Reply Every Time with Echo--Replies to the sender each time a message is received and attaches the original message.
  • Reply Once to Each Sender--Replies to the sender the first time a message is received and ignores subsequent messages from the same sender.
3. Click OK.
Your vacation message is created and your response method is set.

Forwarding a Message

You can select whether you want your messages forwarded to one or multiple addresses.

To forward a message:
1. On the Rules page, go to the Forwarding Addresses option and enter the addresses to which you want to forward your mail. Enter one address per line.
2. In the Forwarding Setting section, select the forwarding method you want:
  • Disabled--Disables the forwarding option.
  • Forward and keep a copy--Forwards the message to the specified address and keeps a copy.
  • Forward, then discard--Forwards the message to the specified address and then discards the message.
3. Click OK.
Message forwarding is set.

Moving a Message

You can select whether you want messages moved to a selected folder automatically or manually.

To select the way you want messages moved:
1. On the Options page, go to the AutoJump option and select the folder selection method you want:
  • Off--Prompts for folder selection confirmation before message are moved to the selected folder.
  • On--Automatically moves messages to the selected folder.
  • NOTE: This option is available only with browsers that support JavaScript.

3. Click OK.
The method for moving a message is selected.

Formatting Message Replies

You can control how the text of an original message is included when you reply to or forward it.

To select the format of reply messages:
1. On the Options page, go to the Replying to Messages field and select the text indicator you want:
  • Separator--Marks the beginning of quoted text with a full line of bars.
  • > symbol--Adds the > symbol on each line of quoted text.
  • None--Does not use indicators for included message text.
2. Click OK.
The format of the reply message is selected.

Confirming Sent Messages

You can control whether you receive confirmation that a message has been sent.

To confirm sent messages:
1. On the Options page, go to the Confirm Sent Messages option and select whether you want to receive confirmation that a message has been sent.
2. Click OK.
Messages confirmation is set.
